If ever a place for using the phrase “it is time,” this would be. If you recall, we heard rumors that Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10 would be headed to AT & T so far back in November of last year, which may prove how exhausting the certification process for getting a handset on Ma Bell’s network. Whispers that flared again in April, and our suspicions about the tease of yesterday seems to be confirmed today.
The Android-powered X10 (v1.6 as far as we can tell, but the PR carefully avoids the question) will be available to consumers starting on August 15, the horn is on a 4-inch touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, built-in GPS, 8.1 megapixel camera (with LED flash), Android 8GB of onboard memory, a 2GB flash memory and a few of their own ROs apps on top of the stock build (Mediascape and Timescape). AT & T’s claims that this bad boy will run it again at $ 149.99 on a 2-year service plan, but Sony says it can be picked up at a local Sony Style Store for $ 20 less. Oh, and if you wait one week, the contract at $ 49.99 at Amazon. Choices, choices.

Apparently the latest firmware update for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 (which, yes, is still based on Android 1.6) does more harm than good – if you are using WiFi and you are in poor mobile coverage anyway. In short, any time your cell signal drops to zero and then bounces back, WiFi turns itself off, is particularly cruel to believe that a weak signal is probably why you’re leaning on Wi-Fi in the first place. We have no details about what X10s are affected, but R2BA026 version sounds like the question – so if you see it, we would probably stay away until a new update SE manages to push.
