The locks are open, and has grown in another country – although, unlike Saudi Arabia, India and the UAE, this is not an imminent ban BlackBerry messaging … yet. Kuwait has announced that it has asked RIM to go with “moral and safety concerns” – namely, the blocking of pornographic sites – and that RIM has asked for four months to comply. Meanwhile, deadline-driven local server from Saudi Arabia are reportedly testing proceeds rapidly, three servers, one for each of the national cellular carrier, must “meet the statutory requirements” of the country by Monday.

It took two long years for India (alleged) tap BlackBerry traffic, but Saudi Arabia can not be too long to wait that long, the Wall Street Journal reports that RIM has all but agreed to set up a local server in the country. Although we have no details about what the deal entails, an unnamed official said Saudi Telecom Negotiations are already in the final stages. Sorry, RIM, but it seems that Saudi Arabia called you bluff. We assume the company will deny any spying for the government very soon … and both Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates will start planning their own attempts to wrest away control. We’ll let you know where this house of cards falls.

Update: Saudi Arabia has reportedly seen its three national cellular carriers 48 hours to try out solutions suggested that “legal requirements” of the country to meet, otherwise the BlackBerry messaging ban will take effect as originally planned.

blackberry curve 3g t mobile T Mobile getting BlackBerry Curve 3G in the coming weeks

“In the coming weeks” seems to be a popular phrase when talking about the availability of this phone coming days, and T-Mobile USA is consistent with the trend today in talking about the newly announced 3G BlackBerry Curve from RIM. Beyond saying that it will be available in the “smoky violet” and “graphite gray, T-Mobile is not really any hints about the prices or the retail date – for all we know, could be in August or September – so 8520, that’s just going to have to last you a few days. EDGE data slower than ever now feel, huh?

blackberry messanging shut down saudi arabia BlackBerry messaging shut down in Saudi Arabia, users feel early withdrawal pains

We can not say this is really a surprise, but we are quite sad to learn that Saudi Arabia has apparently made the threats to close all of Blackberry messaging services functionality by “security concerns.” Users are there to report that they no longer able to take their keyboard for employment they were intended, forcing them to actually call friends – with their votes. Saudi Arabia has $ 1,300,000 for any fines threatened wireless provider that does not play nice and until these threats are eliminated, we think BBM is set to count out there.

Update: Merely hours later, service is reportedly back. Was it all just a pest? A planned downtime blown our money? A false sign of the apocalypse? Only heaven knows.

blackberry curve 8530 Cricket launches BlackBerry Curve 8530, says Kyocera Zio is in the cards

We had wondered what had happened to low-end of Kyocera Zio Android after announcing in March at CTIA … and behold, here it is. Cricket today announced that the phone is indeed in the pipe for 2010 – a little later than previous rumors that we would see in July – marking just their second smartphone after their branded version of the BlackBerry Curve 8530, which ships later this week. Prices for the Zio has not yet announced, but the Curve 8530 will run $ 279.99 after rebate – pricey, yes, until you realize that you get, without a pesky contract. Cricket’s thrilled to trumpet its unlimited BlackBerry plan only $ 60 per month in total, which means that voice, text does run, and the data are all from the meter. Not bad – but given the positioning of Cricket as a regional brand value, we would expect no less.
