clearwire 4g ispot wireless broadband Clearwires 4G iSpot brings wireless broadband to Apple mobile devices (updated)

Check it out, Clearwire has decided to do an Apple-centric version of its 4G Spot hotspot, so it is naturally formed in the shape of a Magic Mouse and i put a prefix in front of the device. Really, there is nothing new or Apple-exclusive, that we can see – up to eight devices can connect to the 4G mobile station via WiFi and the only (see update) requires authentication is a password. So yes, like many of the products available to it, has done precious thing iSpot itself with iPhones, iPod Touch and IPAD only because these devices are the cool kids of the digital playground as today.

Then again, maybe Clearwire decision over the difficult and refuse to you one of these excellent sounding $ 25 (before tax) per month 4G broadband pakketten to continue the iSpot if you do not have an i-anything on tow to sell . If you imagine this twisty little accessory for your mobile gear, it costs $ 99 but can be had for $ 29 on sale from today, clearly in anticipation of an August 10 start at major retailers.

Update: We followed with Clearwire to notify the iSpot. We are told that “the device is configured to filter based on MAC address, which allows the ID of the mobile devices from Apple,” means explicitly iPhones, iPod touches and IPAD only.

telus mobile broadband Telus launching North Americas first 42Mbps dual carrier HSPA+ network

Australian Telstra already claim to the title of world’s first on this one, but Telus in Canada is not far behind, becoming the first carrier in North America to push up to 42Mbps HSPA + through the magic of double-carrier technology. The concept is nothing new – remember that “Shotgun” two-line solid 56k modems back in the day? Dual carrier is not much different, serving two HSPA + connection with a simultaneous effective throughput of 42Mbps theoretical maximum gain. Telus has already packed lab tests, but it expects the blazing speeds provide customers some time in the first quarter of 2011 with the launch of the first compatible devices – USB modems in the first, we assume – and since Bell shares the network with Telus, we believe they in cahoots on this as well. Rogers, a ball in your court. Follow the break for the press release.

Update
: Bell reached out to let us know they are in the thick of testing dual carrier HSPA +, as well as the tests on real-world cell sites kick off this month, and that “no one ahead of Bell test this technology. “As we mentioned before, Bell and Telus are in bed together for HSPA air, so it makes perfect sense.
