motorola droid 2 Best Buy pegs Droid 2 at $199 with 2 year activation, $599 without (updated)

It is quite amazing to believe we have come this far without that Verizon or Motorola as much as the recognition of the Droid 2′s existence, but if it leaks on a weekly basis, the traditional marketing needs? Greg attentive reader from North Carolina tells us his local Best Buy has leaked dummy units on the shelves, and lo and behold, there is a set of price tags next to them. As originally rumored phone will start at $ 199 and $ 599 with carrier subsidies should you choose to cart home without a plan in tow. Still no solid confirmation of the August 12 release date, but at this rate, we expect the handset is sold out before Verizon’s PR team breathes a word. Spot the full image after the break.

motorola blur Motorolas Jha says MOTOBLUR brand will fade from view

We already had a pretty good indication that Motorola was shifting its strategy when it came to MOTO BLUR, and it seems that co-CEO Sanjay Jha has finally made the move official. Speaking of Q2 the company earnings call, Jha said that while MOTO BLUR will continue to be included in a number of phones, Motorola has decided that it will “focus on the value proposition of products and not MOTO BLUR as a brand in its own right.” Jha went on to explain that “the possibility of the value proposition around MOTO BLUR market is not easy to do in a 30-second ad spot”, but stressed that “MOTO BLUR remains an important issue,” and added that he thinks “you will see more functionality in MOTO BLUR” – you just do not see the name MOTO BLUR much more in public.

motorola milestone xt720 Motorolas Milestone XT720 makes US debut... on Cincinnati Bell

We’re not quite sure what kind of deal for Cincinnati Bell is wrong, but if this darn regional carrier does not score quite fantastic handsets. Also known for the supply of white Nokia E71 and the 5800 XpressMusic first in the U.S., the operator is now the first American home of Motorola Milestone XT720. Because we recently heard the smartphone packs a 720MHz TI OMAP3440 processor, 3.7-inch touch panel FWVGA (854 x 480), Android 2.1, 802.11b / g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, a built-in accelerometer, USB 2.0 connectivity, proximity sensor, 8 megapixel camera (with Xenon flash) and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It’s yours for the taking – provided you live in southeastern Indiana, southwestern Ohio and northwestern Kentucky, and that is – but the $ 199.99 contract ($ 449.99 sans strings) price tag maybe just pushing for a more fully functional alternatives. Tough call, we know.

It can not be too attractive in the face of a number of more recent bedoeld Motorola – especially the droid X – but if you’re looking to score, that elusive Motorola Mile Stone XT720 in the U.S., it seems that retail trader Newegg has you covered with an unlocked version (of interest to refer to the “Milestone II”) for $ 540. Unfortunately, there is no indication of the 3G bands supported, as far as we know, you will be crushed when you discover that your AT & T (or T-Mobile) SIM tops with EDGE data – and more than half a grand, HSPA is the least we could expect. Caveat emptor, eh?

motorola flipout Motorola Flipout makes North American debut with a Rogers exclusive

In another case of Canadians Getting Things ahead of their southern neighbors, the Motorola Flipout made his voyage across the Atlantic and settled in Rogers first North American airline. 3-year contractual obligations will be greeted with a humble C $ 30 cost for the phone, or if you do not think they are locked in for so long, you can flip ping thing to buy outright for C $ 375. As a reminder, the Flipout runs on Google’s Android OS 2.1, but embellishes things a bit refreshed with a variety of Moto Blur UI. If that, along with the “hip to be square” form factor, sounds like your piece of cake, we recommend you head on over to the source link and put it to good use Canadian dollars to make.
