If ever a place for using the phrase “it is time,” this would be. If you recall, we heard rumors that Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10 would be headed to AT & T so far back in November of last year, which may prove how exhausting the certification process for getting a handset on Ma Bell’s network. Whispers that flared again in April, and our suspicions about the tease of yesterday seems to be confirmed today.
The Android-powered X10 (v1.6 as far as we can tell, but the PR carefully avoids the question) will be available to consumers starting on August 15, the horn is on a 4-inch touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, built-in GPS, 8.1 megapixel camera (with LED flash), Android 8GB of onboard memory, a 2GB flash memory and a few of their own ROs apps on top of the stock build (Mediascape and Timescape). AT & T’s claims that this bad boy will run it again at $ 149.99 on a 2-year service plan, but Sony says it can be picked up at a local Sony Style Store for $ 20 less. Oh, and if you wait one week, the contract at $ 49.99 at Amazon. Choices, choices.
